Prayer for the Building Project

Lord Jesus Christ, out God, You have said. "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the misdst of them." Come and send upon us your Holy Spirit to guide our minds and strengthen our soulsas we embark in building the new Chapel of the Guardian Angel, classrooms, conference rooms and administrative offices.
Hear us, O Lord, the source of wisdom and knowledge.  With contrite hearts we humble sinners ask You to accept our supplications, sanctify through this undertaking our souls, correct our thoughts and purify our intentions.  Look upon the works of our hands, the Maker and Creator of everything.  You who made the heavens firm in wisom and established the earth in its sure foundation.
Raise this benevolent building, this building of agape, upon the firm rock of your Kingdom, guide our work and bring it to completion.
Bless the visionaries and those who took the initiative, the benefactors and sponsers who generously and eagerly contribute torwards the new facilities.  May their God-pleasing examples be followed by many others, and grant them their requests that are unto salvation and life everlasting.
For You are the Giver of everything good, and to You we send up glory and thanksgiving, together with you beginningless Father and Your All-Holy and Good Life-giving Spirit, now and ever to the ages.

    Amen!

Construction Has Begun!
On behalf of our community, Parish Council President Peter Stamatis signed a contract with EVS Construction on March 9 to begin the first phase of our construction plan: the Education and Ministry Building. Ground will be broken as soon as possible after Pascha, with the goal of taking occupancy in the first quarter of 2008!
The long awaited goal of "rising up and building"
is about to take shape! Watch for more news in the Forerunner and on the digital screen in the hallway for more developments.

  • PROGRESS COMPLETED THIS WEEK: Attached are some photos of the work completed. The remaining concrete piers and the elevator pit and walls have been poured. The concrete walls for the utility chase have been formed. The underground water service to the new education building is being installed along the north side of the property. The North Cook County Soil and Water Conservation District has approved our connection with the creek and the Army Corps of Engineers should be approving the final plans at any time. Therefore, we hope to start excavating the south parking lot in the next week to install the underground storm water storage vaults. PLEASE NOTE: When this work starts, the south access to/from Dempster will be closed until the work is complete. The parking lot will also be blocked off west of the existing parking lot light poles. Please inform the parishoners that all access to the Church will need to be off Lyman Avenue .
  • UPCOMING WORK TO BE COMPLETED: As mentioned above, the parking lot work will start in the coming days. Early next week the first of the precast walls are being poured at the fabrication facility in Wisconsin and installation of the 4' high panels around the perimeter of the building are scheduled to be installed in a week or two. Structural steel for the first floor along with the first floor precast floor planks will be installed thereafter.

  • PROGRESS COMPLETED THIS WEEK: Now that we've received full approval from the Army Corps of Engineers to conduct our storm sewer connection with the creek, we're excited to report that work on the underground storm water storage vaults has started. The area has been dug and 90% of the rebar has been laid for the concrete slab that will support the vaults. 50% of the concrete has been poured for the vault as well. The majority of all the structural concrete for the building has been completed and the majority of underground services to and from the building have been installed.
  • UPCOMING WORK TO BE COMPLETED: We will complete pouring the slab for the underground storm water storage vaults and the first of the precast wall panels will be showing up in the coming weeks. After that, the structural steel for the first floor will be installed and the first floor precast planks will be installed.

  • PROGRESS COMPLETED THIS WEEK: We are pleased to report the concrete slab for the underground storm water storage vault has been completed and we are ready for delivery of the concrete storage vaults. Fortunately, the slab was completed prior to the heavy rains on Wednesday night. The underground work under and around the building has been completed. The building is also ready for the first floor perimeter precast wall panels. The precast wall manufacturer has started fabricating the first floor wall panels, which look great.
  • UPCOMING WORK TO BE COMPLETED: The concrete underground storm water storage vaults will be delivered, installed, and backfilled in the coming weeks. The first floor perimeter precast wall panels will be delivered and installed. After that, the first floor steel can be installed along with the first floor precast planks.
    September 21st, 2007:
  • PROGRESS COMPLETED THIS WEEK: The installation of the first floor precast concrete floor planks has been completed along with the first floor perimeter precast wall panels. The interior structural steel is also being installed to support the second floor bar joists which will support the second floor. The installation of the next wall panels has started and this work should be completed in the coming days. (Attached are photos.)
  • UPCOMING WORK TO BE COMPLETED: Expect the building to start looking like a real building over the next two weeks. The remaining precast wall panels for the first floor will be installed over the next week. These panels include the openings for the windows and doors for the first floor rooms. Once these panels are installed, then the second floor bar joists will be installed followed by the remainder of the exterior precast concrete wall panels.
    September 28th, 2007:
  • PROGRESS COMPLETED THIS WEEK: The second "lift" of the exterior precast wall panels is underway. These panels include the exterior walls of the first floor including the first floor window openings. The steel contractor has also started installing and detailing the structural steel which will ultimately provide the floor for the second floor.
  • UPCOMING WORK TO BE COMPLETED: Exterior precast wall erection work will continue throughout the coming weeks and we'll soon have the building shell completed. Once that is completed, then the structural steel work will be completed and then the roofing can be installed.
