The St. John Greek Orthodox Sunday School is open to all children from 4 years old through 16. We offer religious education for the appropriate age levels of each of our students and a complete Divine Liturgy for students and staff. There are 32 scheduled classes beginning on the second Sunday in September through the third Sunday of May. Class time: 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
Aim and PurposeThe aim and purpose of the church school is to lead children to sacramental life. A very important aim is to make the children feel good about coming to church. They must be shown Christ's Love.
CurriculumOur 200 students follow the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Department of Religious Education curriculum. Primary grades are taught church hymns by Mrs. Effie Costa and the upper grades are encouraged to join the Junior Choir lead by Miss Nikolia Rallis. Our committed staff of 25 outstanding teachers cooperates with the Outreach Ministry so that the students may participate in special projects for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Pascha. We hold special teaching events such as:
We also encourage mission donations during Lent.
Please join us!All are invited to become part of the Sunday School - children to our classes, adults to the teaching staff and the support of the parents! Please contact our Sunday School Director, Mrs. Mary Jane Terpinas at (847) 827-5510 for more information.
